The Barrow Group will open its 20th anniversary season with the New York premiere of Dan Clancy's The Timekeepers on October 18th. Previews begin October 11th for a run that ends November 11th.

The Timekeepers is, "A tale of transcendence in the midst of a world gone mad. At Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp in World War II Germany, a Jewish prisoner and a homosexual prisoner are thrown together in dire circumstances. Their wicked sense of humor, vast differences, and passionate love for opera take them to rich, rarely explored territory."

In an interesting move, The Barrow Group's Artistic Leadership will direct and act in the show.  TBG's Co-Artistic Artistic Director Seth Barrish and Executive Director Eric Paeper will star.  Lee Brock, TBG's other Co-Artistic Director, will direct.

Barrish is known for directing Off-Broadway shows like Pentecost and The Tricky Part. Paeper has appeared in Message to Michael at the Rattlestick Theatre Off-Broadway, and as Michael in many international tours of A Chorus Line. Brock has acted at the Lucille Lortel and the Manhattan Theatre Club. She previously directed Diana Son's Stop Kiss for TBG.

Playwright Dan Clancy has been produced Off-Broadway, in regional theatres, and abroad. His plays include Volunteer Man (OBIE Award), Two Sisters, and The First Time.

The Timekeepers opened in London in November 2001, and in Tel Aviv in December 2002. The Israeli cast performed the play in Hebrew and English at the New End in London in April 2004, then returned to London and Dublin with the play in August and September, 2005.

Performances for The Timekeepers are Wednesdays - Mondays at 8 PM with Saturday Matinees are at 2 PM.

Preview tickets are available for $15 and tickets following the opening are $35. Tickets can be purchased at www.smarttix.com or by calling (212) 868-4444. The Barrow Group Theatre is located at 312 W. 36th Street on the 3rd Floor.
