The Obie Award winning Soho Think Tank in association with Clancy Productions will present the absurdist comedy Fatboy by John Clancy beginning performances Saturday, March 4th, opening Monday, March 6th (at 8 PM) and closing March 25th at the Ohio Theater (66 Wooster Street between Spring and Broome).

Fatboy is "a brutal comedy inspired by Alfred Jarry's Ubu Roi. This satire on modern America's insatiable appetites, from gobbling up 72 oz. steaks to small nations is presented as a live-action Punch and Judy show. In this fast-moving, shocking, profane, dead-on funhouse mirror reflection of the world today, the brutish allegory known as Fatboy stands trial for war crimes. Despite overwhelming evidence the court refuses to convict and succumbs to Fatboy's 'persuasive' tactics," state press notes.

The cast includes Nancy Walsh, David Calvitto, Jody Lambert and Matt Oberg and Del Pentecost as Fatboy. The artistic team includes Kelly Hanson (sets) and Michael Oberle (costumes and props).

John Clancy is the Executive Artistic Director of Clancy Productions, the founding Artistic Director of The Present Company and a founding Artistic Director of The New York International Fringe Festival. His plays have won The American Shorts Contest and The San Francisco Playwrights Center Dramarama and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe First. Directing credits include Americana Absurdum (Fringe First 2000), Cincinnati (Fringe First 2002 and Adelaide Best of Fringe 2004), and Horse Country (winner of Fringe First 2002, Scotsman Best of the Firsts 2002). His most recent directorial endeavor screwmachine/eyecandy: Or How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love Big Bob, garnered him his 5th Fringe First in 4 years. In 2002 he was awarded a Glasgow Herald Angel for Excellence in Direction at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Goner at The Kraine.

Soho Think Tank "strengthens, nurtures and promotes an aesthetically and culturally diverse community of independent theatre artists and theatre companies by producing, presenting, and programming new work at the Ohio Theater, in Soho."

Performances run Wednesday – Saturdays at 8 PM, and Sundays at 7 PM (no performance on Wed., March 8th). Tickets are $15 / $10 for students and seniors and can be purchased by calling 212.868.4444 or by going to www.smarttix.com. For more information, please visit www.clancyproductions.com.
