Circle in the Square Theatre School will present THREE LITTLE PIGS: A Musical, at Broadway's famed Circle in the Square Theatre (50th St., between Broadway and Eighth Avenue), at 10:30 a.m., October 28 - November 1.
Adapted by Lani Brockman, with music and lyrics by Susan Bardsley, THREE LITTLE PIGS: A Musical leads off this season's Three Plays for Grades K-6 series, the popular program that began in 1994. The series is dedicated to the memory of Theodore Mann (1924-2012), co-founder of the legendary Theatre, who was artistic director of both Circle in the Square Theatre and the acclaimed Circle in the Square Theatre School.
The Three Plays for Grades K-6 productions are performed by graduate actors of the Theatre School. The cast of THREE LITTLE PIGS includes Jessica Gallo Murphy, Aubrey Lace Taylor and Kasey Todd as the Three Little Pigs and Taylor Walsh as the Wolf. The Director & Choreographer for this musical production is Jeanne Slater and Musical Director is Jean-Paul Bjorlin.
In THREE LITTLE PIGS: A Musical, the pigs are threatened by a hungry wolf who wants their food and their house. Children in the audience learn how teamwork helps people to avoid danger, singing along with songs such as "Piggy Power," "Think About Food," and "Pick of the Litter."
THREE LITTLE PIGS: A Musical (October 28 - November 1) will be followed by: CINDERELLA, A New Version of The Oldest Story Ever Told, by David F. Eliet (February 3-7 & February 10-14) and ANANSI THE SPIDER, adapted by Tony Phelan & Kira Snyder (March 3-7).
Circle in the Square Theatre School, established in 1961 and accredited by the National Association of Schools of Theatre is one of the country's premier schools of professional training for actors and singers and is the only conservatory in a Broadway theater facility. The School features a comprehensive yet eclectic mix of techniques that prepare performers for the diverse approaches they will encounter in the profession. Students receive individual attention in small classes, led by a faculty of accomplished professionals. The Theatre School was created by Theodore Mann and his long-time partner Paul Libin. Paul Libin is President, and E. Colin O'Leary is Executive Director.
Among the School's alumni are Kevin Bacon, Benicio Del Toro, Lisa Edelstein, Lauren Elder, Lady Gaga, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Felicity Huffman, Kristen Johnston, Justin Kirk, Matthew Lillard, John C. McGinley, Idina Menzel, Nicole Ari Parker, Jeremy Shamos, Molly Shannon, D.B. Sweeney, Nick Wyman and many other luminaries of the stage and screen.
In addition to this series and the annual Festival of Theater each spring, the School conducts a playwriting residency for 139 third graders at PS 11, with each student's short play performed by graduate actors on Circle's Broadway stage; and hosts Teens On Broadway, the School's new initiative which enables all 30 pre-professional theater programs at public high schools from across the City to present their best works at Circle in the Square Theatre.
