Christoph Waltz has won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds'.
Christoph Waltz studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna and the prestigious Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York. Waltz's performing roots are in the theatre; playing in venues such as Schauspielhaus Zürich in Zurich, Burgtheater in Vienna, and the Salzburg Festival.
His portrayal of the "The Jew Hunter" in Quentin Tarantino's Inglourious Basterds has been sweeping the awards circle, earning him the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor, the Best Actor Award at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival, and a Best Supporting Actor award from the New York Film Critics Circle, the Boston Society of Film Critics, and the Los Angels Film Critics Association amongst other awards.
The Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2009 are being presented tonight, March 7, 2010, at the Kodak Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live by the ABC Television Network. The Oscar presentation will be televised live in more than 200 countries worldwide.
