Christine Baranski & Jesse L Martin Headline MTC Benefit

MANHATTAN THEATRE CLUB will present its annual Winter Benefit, An Intimate Night, an evening of cocktails and dinner followed by a special one-night-only cabaret-style show featuring stage, film and television stars - and MTC alumni - Christine Baranski and Jesse L. Martin. An Intimate Night takes place Monday, January 22, 2007 at the Rainbow Room (30 Rockefeller Plaza, 65th Floor).

The evening begins with a 7pm cocktail reception, followed by dinner at 8pm and the show at 9:15pm. All monies raised from this annual event will benefit MTC's extensive educational outreach programs, as well as its musical theatre and play development activities.

Bethany Millard and Fiona Kirk are the Co-chairs.

Christine Baranski is currently starring in Paul Rudnick's comedy Regrets Only at the Manhattan Theatre Club. She is a two time Tony winner for The Real Thing and Rumors. Her work at the Manhattan Theatre Club also includes Sally And Marsha opposite Bernadette Peters, Lips Together, Teeth Apart and The Loman Family Picnic. Other New York credits include The House Of Blue Leaves, Hurlyburly as well as the Encores! Production of Promises, Promises. She has also performed at the Kennedy Center as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd and as the title character in Jerry Herman's Mame. Television credits include "Cybill" for which she won an Emmy Award, "Eloise At Christmastime" and "Happy Family." Film appearances include The Birdcage, Chicago, The Grinch, Cruel Intentions and Bowfinger.

Jesse L. Martin is most widely known for his long-running portrayal of Detective Ed Green on "Law & Order." He has appeared at the Manhattan Theatre Club in The Arabian Nights. Martin was in the original cast of the Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway musical Rent, a role he repeated in the film adaptation. His extensive New York theater credits run the gamut from Shakespeare to musical comedy and include Timon of Athens and The Inspector General at the National Actors Theatre, Romeo & Juliet with The Acting Company and Two Gentlemen of Verona at the Arena Stage. Past film credits include "Season of Youth" and "The Restaurant" with Adrien Brody and Lauryn Hill.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director Lynne Meadow and Executive Producer Barry Grove, Manhattan Theatre Club has grown in three decades from a prolific Off-Off Broadway showcase into one of the country's most acclaimed theatre organizations. MTC develops and presents works of the highest quality by both established and emerging American and international playwrights. Significant productions include Craig Lucas' Reckless, David Auburn's Pulitzer Prize-winning Proof; Charles Busch's The Tale of the Allergist's Wife; Terrence McNally's Tony Award-winning Love! Valour! Compassion!; the Fats Waller musical Ain't Misbehavin'; Beth Henley's Pulitzer Prize-winning Crimes of the Heart; August Wilson's The Piano Lesson and Seven Guitars and the Pulitzer Prize-winning production of John Patrick Shanley's Doubt.

Their acclaimed Education Program has brought theatre into the lives of more than 30,000 underserved students in New York and around the country since its inception in 1989.
