Stage and TV star Christian Campbell has been cast in an upcoming Off-Broadway revival of the Michael Weller play Loose Ends.
A 1979 play by Weller (
Moonchildren, Spoils of War),
Loose Ends will star Campbell as Paul, a man who traverses Boston to Bali to New York in his romance with Susan (a role for which casting has yet to be announced). Actor/director
Austin Pendleton, who last helmed Off-Broadway's
Orson's Shadow and received a Tony nomination for directing
The Little Foxes, will stage
Loose Ends. Steven Sendor, with Campbell, will produce the play under Rebellion Productions.
Neither dates nor a theatre have been announced for the production, for which rehearsals are set to begin in August.
Campbell was seen in the Showtime movie version of the musical
Reefer Madness, reprising his Off-Broadway role. He also starred in
tick, tick...BOOM! on national tour and in London. His TV credits include "All My Children" and "The Book of Daniel," while film credits include
Plead, Trick and
Next Time.
Loose Ends, which was first seen at Washington, D.C.'s Arena Stage, played Broadway's Circle in the Square Theatre from June 6th, 1979 to January 27th, 1980. Directed by Alan Schneider, it originally starred
Kevin Kline and Roxanne Hart.
