FRIGID New York @ Horse Trade will present a special one night only performance of Christian Cagigal's Obscura on Thursday, May 21 at The Kraine Theater (85 East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery) at 8pm. Tickets ($20) may be purchased in advance at www.horseTRADE.info.

Magician and storyteller Christian Cagigal, weaves sleight of hand, dark fables and strange happenings into an evening of magic and mystery. OBSCURA is performed under the eye of a camera and projected large, above Cagigal, so you can't miss a thing.

CHRISTIAN CAGIGAL (Creator/Performer) has been performing his trademark blend of theatre, storytelling and magic as an Artist in Residence at EXIT Theatre in San Francisco, since 2006 and as an Artist in Residence with Beyond the Mountain in Montréal, Canada since 2012. He was a finalist for the Theatre Bay Area Award for Best Solo Performer, recipient of a Mastermind Award by the SF Weekly and three-time winner of the "Best Magician of the Bay Award" by the San Francisco Bay Guardian. His previous shows include, The Pandora Experiment, the secretive happenings of The Collection, and the critically acclaimed Now and at the Hour which has been seen in New York (premiered at Horse Trade's FRIGID Festival in 2009), Montréal, Chicago, New Orleans, Minneapolis and San Francisco. The performance film of Now and at the Hour, directed by award winning filmmaker H.P. Mendoza, received its first screenings in December of 2014. Christian has consulted for A.C.T.'s MFA program, Crowded Fire Theatre Company, The Traveling Jewish Theatre Company, Marin Shakespeare Company, Shotgun Players, EXIT Theatre and The San Francisco Ghost Hunt Walking Tour. Christian can also be seen in the independent, power-pop, musical film, Fruit Fly written and directed by H.P. Mendoza.

FRIGID NEW YORK is a theater development group with a focus on new work that produces a massive quantity of stimulating downtown theater every season. FRIGID's Resident Artist Program offers a home to a select group of Independent theater artists, pooling together a great deal of talent and energy. FRIGID New York grew out of the annual FRIGID Festival, the first and only festival of its kind in New York City to offer artists 100% of their box office proceeds, and Horse Trade Theater Group, a self-sustaining theater development and management group.
