In a recent NY Magazine article, GLEE star and Golden Globe winner Chris Colfer reminisces about his first trip to New York City, after he filmed the GLEE pilot episode. Colfer visited Lea Michele and Jenna Ushkowitz and slept on Michele's couch, going to see seven Broadway shows in just six days. Colfer also took his first cab ride during the trip, by pretending to stay at a hotel so that the doorman could help him get a cab!
Colfer recently returned to NYC to film the GLEE episode where New Directions travel to Nationals. Colfer said, "This trip was insane." Thousands of fans showed up at their filming locations, something that Colfer says can get out of control.
"But, I hate to say this, it really is almost dangerous for us to go out now because it gets so intense. It becomes a stampede. I've had to call the police," Colfer said.
Because of Colfer's positive portrayal of a gay character, the cast agrees that he gets the most attention from fans. "They invite me places and then go, ‘Actually, never mind. You ruin it for all of us, because after you're recognized, we'll all be in trouble.' I'm just so distinctive-my voice, my awkward features. You can't hide me," he explained.
