As BWW reported earlier this week, Chris Colfer will pen an upcoming episode for the fifth season of the FOX musical dramedy GLEE.

In an interview with TVLine, the actor shared some insight into what's in store for the special episode. "I promise that it's better than it sounds," Colfer said at Glee's 100th episode celebration Tuesday night. "I think we're going to do something ... with animals and the elderly. I kind of have this shot to do a really selfish episode, which if it was for me, I would probably have done a Miley Cyrus tribute episode. But I'm trying to do the best episode that I can, rather than do something selfish."

Colfer admits he had never expected to be given the honor of writing an episode for the long-running show. "I've been asked in interviews if I ever wanted to write one, and I said, 'Absolutely not because it was not my world,'" he explained. "I didn't want to tamper with someone else's image. Then they were like, 'Here, come tamper.'"

The actor and author is excited for his character Kurt's upcoming storyline in which he makes a return to The Big Apple. "He's living in New York, working at the diner and Vogue, going through some ups and downs with his relationship," he shared.

Colfer is no stranger to writing. He penned the screenplay for the 2012 indie film Struck By Lightning and is the best-selling author of Land of Stories, a children's book series.

About GLEE:

Glee is a musical comedy about a group of ambitious and talented kids who escape the harsh realities of high school by joining a Glee club, where they find strength, acceptance and, ultimately, their voice. Last year's graduates and aspiring singers, RACHEL BERRY (Lea Michelle) and KURT HUMMEL (Chris Colfer), packed their bags for New York and enrolled at a prestigious performing arts school, NYADA, where they made new friends and learned the cruel realities of college. These naïve freshmen moved into a Brooklyn loft, signed up for internships, auditioned for Broadway shows and gained a roommate when SANTAna Lopez (Naya Rivera) moved to the Big Apple.
