Entrants in the Kozlova International Ballet Competition are required to learn original solos for the contemporary portion of the Competition. This year's choreographers are Nina Buisson, choreographer of a solo for women, and Ilya Zhivoi, creator of a solo for men.

NINA BUISSON trained in dance at the Princess Grace Academy of Classical Dance and in music at the Prince Rainier III Music Academy in Monaco. She holds a professional teaching diploma from the Cultural Ministry of Aix en Provence in her native France. Buisson enjoys an international career as a master teacher and cutting-edge choreographer, with works presented in New York, France, Italy and Germany. She is an Elan Award recipient of the "Spirit Award for Choreographic Excellence."
LYA ZHIVOI , a 2008 graduate of the Vaganova Academy, toured the world as a member of the Mariinsky Ballet and has staged four ballets for the Company's "Creative Workshop for Young Choreographers," as well as a 2017 two-act ballet, "The Times of the Year," for the Company. Recent projects include work on two Vishneva projects: "Beauty in Motion" and "Dialogues." Zhivoi is a Laureate of the "Hope of Russia" Prize and a participant in Valery Gergiev's educational program that includes master classes in modern choreography.
