Choir of Holy Trinity, Stratford-Upon-Avon Sings at St. Bartholomew's Church 7/28

The Choir of Holy Trinity, Stratford-Upon-Avon, will sing a free concert at St. Bartholomew's on Wednesday, July 28 at 12:30 pm as part of their first US tour.

Holy Trinity Church, Stratford-upon-Avon, is England's most visited and most famous
Parish Church. William Shakespeare is buried in the chancel of the church. There has been a choir at the church for many centuries. At the close of the fifteenth century, four boys assisted in singing Divine Service at Holy Trinity. Today a choir of 34 adults and children is dedicated to maintaining the enviable and unique choral tradition of the Church of England. The Choir sings for two regular services each Sunday. In addition there are special services at the main Christian festivals and for civic occasions. The principle civic service is the internationally famous "Shakespeare Sunday" where a service is held to commemorate the birthday of Stratford's most famous son, and for which a new anthem is regularly commissioned from leading composers of the present day.

At St. Bartholomew's, the choir will sing unaccompanied sacred works of Weelkes, Byrd, Stanford, Tippett, Tavener and Randall Thompson. The choir will be conducted by Andrew Jones. The concert is free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken.
