Variety reports that Robert and Richard Sherman, whose credits together include Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang are aiming to write another musical together, Merry-Go-Round, which will premiere in a workshop this Fall in Los Angeles.

The story, an original one written by Andy Belling is said by the article to be a cross between It's a Wonderful Life, a Christmas Carol, and The Twilight Zone as a father and son pair relive moments from their past.

Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman's songwriting honors include two Oscars (Mary Poppins), nine Oscar nominations, three Grammys, 24 gold/platinum albums, a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame and induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Top-ten hits ("You're Sixteen," "Let's Get Together," "Tall Paul") led to a phenomenal association with Walt Disney - they wrote more than 150 songs for his films, TV shows and theme parks. "It's a Small World" is the world's most translated and performed song. Sherman Disney credits include The Jungle Book, The Parent Trap, Bedknobs and Broomsticks, Winnie the Pooh, The Aristocats and The Tigger Movie. Other films include Tom Sawyer, The Slipper and the Rose, Charlotte's Web, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Beverly Hills Cop 3. Over Here! was their first Broadway show, while in London Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is in its fourth successful year and Mary Poppins premiered recently in London to huge critical acclaim.
