Chinese Feature Films "A Roar of WOLF Troops" and "The Revenge of Phantom Knight" to premiere at New York City's Winter Film Awards International Film Festival

Winter Film Awards Is New York City. Like the city itself, the organization showcases the eclectic diversity and excitement of the independent arts world. The rapidly growing Winter Film Awards International Film Festival, now in its seventh year, is a dynamic and exciting event in the heart of the City. Winter Film Awards showcases films from emerging filmmakers from around the world in all genres with a special emphasis on highlighting the work of women and under-represented filmmakers.

The 2018 Festival runs February 22 - March 3 in New York City. Among the 93 Official Selections to be screened at Cinema Village in the heart of Greenwich Village (22 East 12th Street, New York, NY 10003), is a diverse mixture of 13 Animated films, 13 Documentaries, 10 Feature narratives, 8 Horror films, 9 Music Videos, 31 Narrative shorts and 7 Web series, including 21 student films and 32 first-time filmmakers. For our 2018 program, Winter Film Awards is honored to screen two feature films from China.

Chinese Films Featured at NYC's Winter Film Awards International Film Festival  ImageThe North American Premiere of the 105-minute horror/thriller feature film "The Revenge of Phantom Knight" will screen on Monday Feb 26, in the 7:45 pm-11:15 pm screening block. The film was produced by Xiaobo Chen and directed by David Shao, China's premiere gothic movie director. Mr Shao studied art since childhood and learned to love the gothic genre by influence of his mother.

In the film, a patriotic doctor returns to his homeland with his family, seeking a long missing treasure. A series of weird things keeps happening and the doctor begins to behave oddly. Meanwhile, a madman is murdering the local citizens and the doctor's wife starts to have suspicions. Right before she is able to uncover the truth, another larger conspiracy quietly comes along.

Chinese Films Featured at NYC's Winter Film Awards International Film Festival  ImageThe North American Premiere of the 90-minute feature film "A Roar of WOLF Troops" will screen on Sunday Feb 25, in the 1:00 PM-3:30 PM screening block. The film was directed by Xinwu Zhang and produced by Yong Wang. The film stars Miao Xie, Yunlong He, Dongmei Xu and Ying Li. Director Zhang Xinwu graduated from the Department of Directing at Beijing's Central Academy of Drama with a Postgraduate Degree in 2004.

In World War II, when the Japanese Imperial Army invades China, the WOLF troops of the Zhuang minority embark on a secret mission to protect a consignment of medicine vital to China's war effort. When the enemy learns about the mission, they attempt to hijack the goods and a great struggle ensues.
