Chinese Classical Literary Song Concert Comes To Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre

Children from China and local Chinese youths are performing a Chinese Literary Song Concert at 3:30 PM on Saturday, August 11 at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theatre, located at 10 West 64th Street in the West Side YMCA.

The concert combines Chinese classical music composed by Beijing Contemporary Music Academy professor Yu Jingbo with lyrics from ancient poetry,(Tang Dynasty Poems), Song Dynasty Lyrics, Yuan Songs, Three Word Primer and ancient Chinese literature. The songs combine Chinese folk, Beijing Opera and pop, jazz and other popular music elements, with the fusion of Eastern and Western culture.

Children from the Sitan Tai Chi and Martial Arts will also be performing Chinese martial arts and Tai Chi.

The concert is hosted by the World Harmony Foundation and the American National Music Centre, and Co-Sponsored by The Children's Acting Academy (https://childrensactingacademy.com) The children in the concert have been invited by the United Nations Staff Recreation Council and the Global Future Leaders Foundation to participate in an event at UN Headquarters on Monday, August 13 celebrating UN International Youth Day.

To promote the "United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and Cultural of Peace Resolutions", the World Harmony Foundation teamed up with the United States Global Future Leaders Organization, the New York RudanceNY School, and the National Center for the Arts to start the NY Dance Competition and Future Leaders Talent Competition, featuring a selection of talented young people from 193 UN member countries, and launching at noon on August 12 at the Marjorie S.
