On Sunday, April 28 Chihuly Garden and Glass will unveil Chihuly Fire Orange Baskets, a temporary installation of new artworks in the exhibition's Glasshouse.

Revisiting a series Chihuly began in 1977, Fire Orange Baskets presents the asymmetrical forms in a stunning, orange hue complementary to the Glasshouse sculpture and Pacific Sun. With this site-specific grouping, Chihuly continues to push the boundaries of scale with his artworks. These Baskets are among the largest he's created, in direct response to the grandeur of the Glasshouse.

"Over the past few weeks we've been so honored to spend time with Dale and his team in the hotshop as he developed this temporary installation. Being part of the process has been such an inspiring experience for us. We can't wait to share it with our guests and the community at large," said Michelle Bufano, executive director, Chihuly Garden and Glass.

Chihuly's earliest Baskets, some of which are on view in the exhibition's Northwest Room, are presented in subdued hues. The Chihuly Fire Orange Baskets with bright, vibrant colors are a stark contrast, illustrating the artist's penchant to revisit series works and experiment with qualities such as scale and color, as well as presentation.

Located at the foot of the iconic Space Needle at Seattle Center, Chihuly Garden and Glass brings together all the elements of Chihuly's work, including Drawings, signature glass series, large architectural installations and personal collections in a long-term exhibition. Guests attending the public book signing with Dale Chihuly, which commemorates the launch of the new Chihuly Garden and Glass catalog, on Sunday, April 28 from 10-11 a.m. will be among the first to see this vibrant new temporary installation, which will be on view through May 27.
