The trail discovered by 2008's Bury The Square, blazed by 2009's Gather, Form & Fly, and tended by 2010's Heretofore has run into a wide and rushing river. The band we know as Megafaun, born alongside Bon Iver in the ashes that rose from DeYarmond Edison (Brad Cook, Joe Westerlund, and Phil Cook's former band with Justin Vernon), has woven years of writing, touring, and living into a new sonic language. Critically praised and publicly loved for its ability to speak in the many tongues of American musical history – all while blending it with its own energetic and personal form of rock – Megafaun has staked a claim. But the lay of that land the band calls its own – the hills, valleys, and caves beneath – is just revealing itself in the sunrise. This is the band we know, but in a new light. This is Megafaun.

His next effort, "Flow Stoopid," a freestyle track over Nas's "Made You Look," received instant co-signs from rap giants ranging from Lupe Fiasco and Kanye West to Common and Talib Kweli, becoming an instant viral sensation.

Growing up as the eldest son of actor Clint Eastwood, Kyle Eastwood enjoyed a childhood that had jazz as its soundtrack. Although he initially studied film, he soon realized that jazz was his true passion. After years of paying his dues gigging around Los Angeles and New York, he released his debut album, From Here To There, on Sony in 1998. He didn't give up on film, however, and demonstrated his prowess as a composer with a contribution to the score for the Academy Award-winning film Mystic River (2003).

Eastwood's next record, Metropolitan, was released in the US in June 2009. Co-produced by Erin Davis (son of Miles) and Eastwood's longtime writing partner Michael Stevens, the album captured the attention of the jazz world with its forward-thinking style and the gathering of some of the cream of today's jazz musicians. Last fall, Eastwood celebrated the release of his latest album, Songs from the Chateau (2011), at the Blue Note jazz club. Conceived in the fabulous 15th-century Château Couronneau in Ligueux, France, the album features an all-star band that includes Martyn Kaine (drums), Andrew McCormack (piano and keyboards), Graeme Flowers (trumpet and flugelhorn), and Graeme Blevins (soprano saxophone). With production by Crofton Orr and sound engineering by Simone Griva, the album may well be Eastwood's best release to date.

Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett are guitar players. In fact, they're the guitar players with the legendary band Little Feat. Now they've joined forces to form an acoustic duo that will quite frankly blow you away, performing songs from their Little Feat catalogue and more with a decidedly different twist.

Fred Tackett became a member of Little Feat in 1987 just before the making of Let it Roll (1988), but in a sense he has been a member for a whole lot longer. He has been writing songs for and playing on recordings with Little Feat since 1972 as one of the leading studio guitarists in Los Angeles since moving there in 1967. He brings multifaceted talents of guitar, mandolin, and trumpet to the table with Mr. Barrere's guitar and voice in a much more intimate rendering of songs and stories from a well-traveled road.

Soon after, the duo signed with former Warner Bros. Records Senior Executive, Craig Kostich of Operational Art, for management. Look for their hotly anticipated record to drop very, very soon.

On its way from Vladivostok to the world, Mumiy Troll (pronounced Moo-me Troll) is undoubtedly the most significant band that modern Russia has produced since the fall of the Soviet regime. The group has made its mark with startling albums and live performances that are bursting with energy, combining warmth and total debauchery. What exactly does the band sound like? Consider the term "rockapops." Band founder and frontman Ilya Lagutenko has defined his group's music style "rockapops" just to avoid pointless Russian media debates on the definition of what is rock and what is pop. The band has tailored this musical synthesis to become the leader of an entire new musical trend, copied now to greater or lesser degree by a large number of Russian wannabes and mainstream artists.

Born in 1983, Seun Kuti first began performing with Egypt 80, the extraordinary combo first fronted by his father Fela, at age nine, warming up audiences with renditions of his father's songs. After Fela's death in 1997, Seun stepped up to the front of the band, leading the celebrated combo as both lead vocalist and saxophonist. Kuti is determined to speak to the new generation of young Africans born after his father's glory days. As such, the powerhouse protest music found on From Africa with Fury: Rise serves as a kind of musical antidote to the corporate pop that he feels is polluting Africa's airwaves, distracting its citizens from the things that truly matter.

Over the course of a life that has seen him experience brutal government oppression through two separate Tuareg rebellions, life in exile, and numerous other incredible hardships, Bombino has developed a truly unique style of music that carries a powerful message. His electrifying jams capture the spirit of resistance and rebellion while echoing with guitar riffs reminiscent of fellow Africans Tinariwen and Ali Farka Touré, not to mention rock and blues icons such as Jimi Hendrix, John Lee Hooker, and Jimmy Page.
