This Fall, the record-breaking, razzle-dazzle Broadway smash Chicago welcomes stage and screen star Maxwell Caulfield to the role of Billy Flynn for a special two-week holiday engagement beginning Monday, November 19 at the Ambassador Theatre (219 W. 49th St.)
Caulfield joins the Broadway cast of Chicago after having played Billy Flynn in the London production. Earlier this year he appeared Off-Broadway in the Manhattan Theatre Club's mounting of Charles Busch's Our Leading Lady. His notable film credits include The Real Blonde, Grease II and The Boys Next Door, in addition to his long-celebrated turn as Miles Colby on the acclaimed primetime television drama "Dynasty."
Caulfield is scheduled to appear as Billy Flynn through Sunday, December 2.
On Monday, December 3, Drama Desk Award nominee Jeff McCarthy (Urinetown) steps into the role of Billy Flynn for a five-week engagement through Sunday, January 13.
McCarthy most recently appeared on Broadway as Chieftain Dubhdara in The Pirate Queen. His other Broadway roles include Officer Lockstock in Urinetown, Terry Turner in Side Show, the Beast in Beauty and the Beast, Big Bob in Smile and Niko in Zorba, among others.
As of Monday, November 19, 2007, the Broadway production also stars Michelle DeJean as Roxie Hart, Tony nominee Brenda Braxton as Velma Kelly, Vincent Pastore as Amos Hart, two-time Emmy nominee Aida Turturro as Matron "Mama" Morton and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
Directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking, the Broadway revival Chicago is the winner of six 1997 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival and the Grammy Award for Best Musical Cast Recording. It is the eighth longest-running production in Broadway history, as well as Broadway's longest-running musical revival.
