In his first prominent role since being cast as lead character Sonny in Broadway's runaway hit Xanadu, stunning young actor Cheyenne Jackson has just signed on to appear in Director Chuck Griffith's highly anticipated, New York-inspired film, Shifting the Canvas.
Named as Broadway's "sexiest man," the strikingly handsome 6'4" actor who portrayed rugby player and hero Mark Bingham in the Universal Pictures film United 93, will star in the film that tells the story about a group of artists living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn who struggle to maintain a rather dysfunctional family of friends in a post-9/11 world challenged by gentrification, deception and sterilization.
Cheyenne will play Jens, an Ivy League type who works on Wall Street with Denton, a young gay character that recently relocated to New York from the South, who is trying to reconcile his newfound sexuality and relationship with everybody around him.
"Cheyenne is the caliber of actor that a director looks for in commanding a scene," said Griffith about his choice in casting Jackson for the role. "I am both humbled and excited to work with this gifted actor of stage and screen."
In addition to Jackson, the film will also star Scott Thompson (Kids in the Hall), John Paul Pitoc (Trick), Gedde Watanabe (Sixteen Candles), Matthew Montgomery (Long-Term Relationship) and various cameo appearances by New York nightlife icons.
Shifting the Canvas is being overseen by Roaring Leo Productions, Griffith's film production and distribution company that specializing in mini-branding, viral marketing, and advertising.
The film's producers are aggressively in talks with a variety of distributors for foreign and domestic rights and co-production opportunities. Principal photography is set to begin on June 1, 2008.
