Cherry Lane Music Publishing Company, Inc. has re-signed an unprecedented 10 year exclusive, worldwide administration agreement with Tony Award-winning Broadway composer and lyricist Maury Yeston. Cherry Lane has administered Yeston's catalog since 1990.

"Yeston's works include scores for the internationally acclaimed and produced musicals Nine, Titanic (both receiving Tony Awards for Best Musical and Best Score), Grand Hotel and Phantom. A screen adaptation of Nine, directed by Rob Marshall for the Weinstein Company was recently announced, and Barbra Streisand included "Unusual Way" from Nine in her 2006 farewell concert tour and album.  Yeston-penned musicals based on the plays Death Takes a Holiday and Hans Christian Andersen are in the works," state press materials.

"Yeston's stylistic diversity is showcased in 'The Maury Yeston Songbook,' a collection of his finest work sung by Broadway and cabaret performers (CD on PS Classics, songbook published by Cherry Lane Music), and in his 'December Songs' (commissioned by Carnegie Hall).  He crossed over into contemporary pop with Streisand's Top 40 hit 'Till I Loved You,' which, in turn was adapted from the concept album for his musical Goya: A Life in Song, featuring Placido Domingo.  In addition, Yeston is a symphonic composer, musicologist, scholar and former professor of music studies at Yale University."

Peter Primont, CEO of Cherry Lane Music Publishing commented: "Maury Yeston is one of the most accomplished, gifted Broadway writers of all time and has created music that will be appreciated around the world for generations to come. Cherry Lane is proud to renew our agreement with Maury as he has been integral part of our family for many years."

Maury Yeston remarked on Cherry Lane: "Every once in a great while, a music company comes along that is as committed to the music, as to the artists who affiliate themselves with it -- an institution that doesn't lose its soul because its strength flows from the talent, character and integrity of its people. Such a company is Cherry Lane. Beyond the functions of licensing, protecting and disseminating the work of its affiliated writers, no company does more to archive in print, to treat with respect, and to take seriously the musical work itself and its writer, which is the fundamental starting point from which all else in the music business is derived."
