Chenoweth and Lane Working on Sitcom Pilot

Kristin Chenoweth and Nathan Lane - both Tony-winning stars known for crossing over from theatre to film to TV and back again - are working on a sitcom pilot, according to the New York Times.

The article states that the sitcom is "about a pair of talk show hosts like Regis (Philbin) and Kelly (Ripa)."

Both Chenoweth and Lane have previously headlined sitcoms.  Chenoweth, who played Annabeth Schott on "The West Wing," starred on a short-lived self-titled 2001 sitcom, while Lane has starred in "Charlie Lawrence," "Encore! Encore!" and "One of the Boys."

Chenoweth, who was nominated for a Tony for her performance as Glinda in Wicked and who won for her Sally Brown in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, currently appears onstage in the Roundabout Theatre Company's upcoming revival of The Apple Tree. She has also been seen in Scapin, A New Brain, Steel Pier, Epic Proportions, in the Lincoln Center concert production of Candide, and the Encores! productions of Strike Up the Band, On a Clear Day You Can See Forever and The Apple Tree. "As I Am" and "Let Yourself Go" are her two solo CDs. Other film credits include R.V., Bewitched, and The Pink Panther.

Lane, currently on Broadway in Butley, is a two-time Tony winner--for The Producers in 2001, and for A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum in 1996. Other Broadway credits include The Odd Couple, The Frogs, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Laughter on the 23rd Floor, Guys and Dolls, Wind in the Willows, Merlin and Present Laughter. He has been seen on screen in Nicholas Nickelby, the Stuart Little films, Love's Labour's Lost, The Birdcage, Jeffrey and more; he also leant his voice to The Lion King.
