On Thursday, November 13, 2014 at 7:30pm, a charity benefit for the not-for-profit organization Room to Read (www.roomtoread.org), which raises funds for literacy and gender equality in education in local communities in Asia & Africa, will be held at Ariana Restaurant in SoHo (138-140 West Houston Street / www.ArianaSoHo.com). Dasha Alexander & Michelle Guo are the event chairs/organizers, and David Dvorkin & Kim Vallejo from the Room to Read NY Chapter will also be in attendance.
All proceeds raised will go directly to Room to Read and the evening will feature fine dining and live entertainment including performances by 6-time Russian Grammy Award-Winner Ariana Grinblat, the Nina La Voix burlesque dancers, and more. The cost to attend on 11/13 is $130, which includes a three-course meal, drinks, live entertainment, as well as the chance to participate in an auction with items such as wines from Acker Merrall & Condit, jewelry from Tuleste Jewelry, Lydell NYC Jewelry & Miranda Hope Jewelry, fitness classes, dance classes and zip-lining. For the public, to RSVP you can email RoomToReadBaruch@gmail.com.
Established in 2000, Room to Read envisions a world in which all children can pursue a quality education, reach their full potential and contribute to their community and the world. To achieve this goal, they focus on two areas where they believe they can have the greatest impact: literacy and gender equality in education. Room to Read works in collaboration with communities and local governments across Asia and Africa to develop literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children, and support girls to complete secondary school with the life skills they'll need to succeed in school and beyond.
Ariana Restaurant is the brain child and first conceptual restaurant from Russian-American recording artist Ariana (Ariana Grinblat) and executed by St. Petersburg-born Executive Chef Vitaliy Kovalev. The restaurant debuts the culinary genre of modern Russian fare. For more information please visit www.ArianaSoHo.com.
