The Red Bull Theater has announced casting for its staged reading of David Bar Katz's new play BURNING BURNING BURNING BURNING. The reading will take place on February 8 at 7:30pm at The Theatre at St. Clement's (423 West 46th Street). Sarah Benson will direct the performance.

Set in Poland in 1666, the play focuses on a small village community that is thrown into chaos when one of their members comes home as the prophet of the messiah. He infuses the people of the town with messianic zeal, convincing them to break the holy laws that they hold dear, in order to hasten the End of Days. The story is based on actual events.

The reading will feature Eric Bogosian, Stephen Adly Guirgis, Christine Marie Brown, Chris Chalk, Adam Green, Salvatore Inzerillo, and Amelia Workman.

BURNING BURNING BURNING BURNING debuted at the Public Theater in New York in 2008. Katz's other plays include THE HISTORY OF INVULNERABILITY, Philip Roth IN KHARTOUM, and WHAT A WAY TO GO.
