Ceres Gallery Presents #Artistathome

Ceres Gallery is pleased to present #artistathome, 50 works on paper by American artist Anne Drager, born Germany 1966. Drager received an MA in Art History from Bonn University, Germany and turned to contemporary art after meeting Judy Lybke from the Eigen + Art Gallery in Leipzig in 1992.

#artistathome has been curated to display Drager's work in traditional fine art media. Her works on paper apply blends of pastel, pencil, and watercolor. She also presents her first portfolio from the printing press: monotype-collages and woodcuts, namely a series of multi-colored animal portraits.

Much content is autobiographical depicting herself as the artist at work, the home and nearby landscapes, and numerous portraits of her husband Lee Minoff, who wrote the original story for the Yellow Submarine and now works as a psychoanalyst. Her drawings, from memory or from observation, are in essence sketchbook pages. The loose style and improvisational technique straddle between illustration, cartoon and fine-art.

In the past 10 years Drager has exhibited in the Hamptons and Northwest Connecticut. To celebrate her Solo debut at CERES, a New York City Women's Gallery founded in 1984, all proceeds go to Habitat for Humanity of Northwest Connecticut, The Montauk Community Playhouse Foundation and New York's Middle Collegiate Church.

Her portraits of Lee Minoff, the quintessential New York character, won honorable mention at the Guildhall in East Hampton under jurors Robert Storr, former dean of the Yale Art School, and from Instagram-Celebrity curator Jia Jia Fei, director of Digital at the Jewish Museum. Drager's work has been rented for props by the TV Show "The Affair" (Season 3). #artistathome is also available at annedrager.com and on Instagram @Kieselhugel. Her property in Montauk, featured in many of the drawings, has been a location for Abercrombie & Fitch.

Drager says about her art: "I made the turn from art appreciation to art making during a time of need and it continuously provides me with healing, learning, discovery and contemplation. Hence, my art is a tool for living."
