On Monday, April 24th, the Charles Mingus Institute and the Jazz Standard will join forces to celebrate the life and work of one of the most important figures in twentieth century American music: accomplished composer and bassist, Charles Mingus. In honor of what would be his 95th birthday, the event will showcase Mingus classics as well as unrecorded arrangements of his compositions, anecdotes from guest speakers, and an exhibit of never-before seen photos and artifacts.

Monday, April 24, 2017
Music will be performed by the Grammy Award-winning Mingus Big Band at 7:30 p.m. and by the Mingus Orchestra at 9:30 p.m.
