This October, actress CATHY LIND HAYES will bring her show The Beauty, The Banshee & Me to the fifth annual United Solo Festival, the world's largest solo theatre event, for its World Premiere. Written and performed by Hayes, the show is a tribute to both the mother who raised her, and the woman who gave her up.

Adopted at the age of three months by celebrated entertainer Peter Lind Hayes and his beautiful actress/singer wife Mary Healy, Cathy grew up in show business. Her parents were popular in films, television, and theatre, headlining the Sands Hotel in Las Vegas 14 times. For several years in the early 1960's, the couple were hosts of a daily program on WOR Radio in New York, broadcast from the basement of their home in New Rochelle. Cathy made her television debut at four singing "Daisy Crockett," for Edward R. Murrow on Person to Person. Cathy has an impressive list of acting credits including such television programs as Scandal, Mad Men, NCIS Los Angeles, Grey's Anatomy, Friends, Judging Amy, and films including the infamous Mommie Dearest, Drop Dead Fred, Broken Hart, Self-Medicated, and Slightly Thicker Than Water. On stage, Cathy created the role of "Babet" in He Hunts at the Geffen Playhouse for which she received an Ovation Award Nomination from the L.A. Stage Alliance.

As an adult, and preparing to move to Los Angeles with her young husband, Cathy was compelled to learn the truth about where she came from. She attempted to obtain the information from the New York Foundling Hospital - only to learn that all she was entitled to was "non-identifying information" and that state law forbid her access to her original birth certificate. (It still does.) Thus began a decades-long journey of investigating on her own, determined to meet the woman who gave her up. This is the humorous and heartbreaking story of that search.

The Beauty, The Banshee, & Me will be presented Monday, October 20th at 9 pm and Friday, October 24th at 9 pm at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street). Tickets are available at the Theatre Row Box Office and online through Telecharge at www.telecharge.com. You may also call Telecharge at 212-239-6200.
