Tennessee Williams' steamy drama Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is the next show in the Hot Summer Nights at the Kennedy's series of summer productions in North Carolina. The play will run at the Kennedy Theatre in downtown Raleigh's BTI Center for the Performing Arts from July 20th to July 31st at 8 PM (2 PM on Sundays).
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof is, according to production notes, "a powerful, highly-charged, moving story of a neurotic, dysfunctional Southern family with its rivalries, tensions, and greed." Michael Hunsaker (Fiddler on the Roof, Ragtime at NCT) will take on the role of Brick, the brooding alcoholic married to the sultry Maggie the Cat (LA actress Melissa Kite), whose sexual frustration finds an outlet in berating Brick for his still having feelings for a dead college friend. Lamont Wade and Pauline Cobrda will play Brick's parents, plantation patriarch Big Daddy and Big Mama. The cast of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof also includes Chris Chappell (Gooper), Hope Hynes (Mae), Bob Barr (Doc
Baugh), Todd Igoe (Rev. Tooker), Thaddaeus Edwards (Lacey) and Tiffany Ivy
(Sookey). Directed by Dr. Kenny
Gannon, the show features a creative team that includes technical director Curtis
Jones, stage manager Michael Kennedy and set designer Sonya Drum.
