Casting Announced for NYMF Readings of WOODY - A NEW FAIRY TALE

"Woody - A New Fairy Tale" was chosen as an Official Selection of the 2017 New York Musical Festival.

Readings will be held on Monday, July 10th at 1:30 PM, Friday, July 14th at 3:30 PM, and 11:30 AM on Monday, July 17th at Playwrights Horizons Rehearsal Studio.

The readings will feature a cast of 12 performers, starring:

- Curtis Wiley (Attack Of The Elvis Impersonators /The Total Bent / Pageant)

- Bonnie Milligan (Kinky Boots-US Tour/ God Bless You Mr. Rosewater / Head Over Heels)

- Catherine Zambri (BioShock /Mulberry Street)

- Jonathan Hadley (Jersey Boys / A Class Act/ The Body Guard - US Tour)

- ...and featuring Rebecca Fox, Ryan Schaefer, Marisha Castle, Chandler Reeves, Thomas Knapp and Jordan Fife Hunt

"Woody - A New Fairy Tale" was the 2016 Winner of the Mainstreet Musical Award selected by Gregory Mosher. It is a quirky musical adventure about a young man looking to find connection in a world that's becoming increasingly disconnected. Join us as we set loose characters from Collodi's classic Pinocchio into today's modern sexual landscape. Romance, Drag Divas, Virtual Reality, Show Tunes, World Domination, Wooden Boys, Splinters, and Disco, all in 90 minutes! This ain't your Mama's Pinocchio!

ABOUT THE CREATIVE TEAM:

Nolan Doran (Book, Music, Lyrics)
Nolan Doran is a NYC based collaborative artist who has worked across theatre, music and film with hit makers such as Desmond Child, Michael Mayer, and Margo Lion. This season: Associate Director for Michael Moore's "Terms of My Surrender". Original works include: "Woody - A New Fairy Tale" (Main Street Musicals Award), "The Spectrum" (Azalea Film Festival), "The King" (L.A. Indie Film Festival) and music for Ayodele Casel's "While I Have the Floor". Doran holds an M.F.A. from NYU Tisch. www.nolandoran.com

John Carden (Book, Music, Lyrics)
John Carden began his career in NYC at the Metropolitan Opera as a Principal Artist. He composed his first musical, Fabulous Flavio, at Piedmont College in 2008. After this success, he decided to pursue his interest as a Musical Theatre composer at NYU's Tisch School of The Art's where he received an M.F.A. in Graduate Musical Theatre Writing. At NYU, John met Nolan Doran and they created, "Woody - A New Fairy Tale".

Nick Corley (Director)
Nick Corley - directed and co-wrote Woody Sez - the life and music of Woody Guthrie currently playing NYC's Irish Rep. after gaining acclaim all over the world. He also co-wrote and directed A Young Lady of Fashion (Fulton Opera House) and Eliot Ness...in Cleveland (Denver Theatre Centre). He's directed plays and musicals in NYC and across the U.S. Acting credits include Broadway (You Can't Take It With You, Drood, Mary Poppins, A Christmas Carol), film, and television. www.NickCorley.com
