Culture Project, New York's home for socially conscious theater, announces the cast and creative team of REBEL VOICES: Stories, Speeches, and Songs of Resistance, written by Rob Urbinati and directed by Will Pomerantz.

REBEL VOICES, an adaptation of Howard Zinn and Anthony Arnove's Voices of a People's History of the United States, will be featured in Culture Project's "Prologue to Progress" event series on October 4 - 5.

REBEL VOICES, a symphony of our nation's bravest voices, provides a full journey in the struggles that have shaped America from its inception to the present day. Rich in ideas and actions, it is the embodiment of the power of civil disobedience and dissent, and it captures our nation's true spirit of defiance and resilience.

The cast includes Leovina Charles (Lion King on Broadway), Andy Lucien (The Qualms, Playwrights Horizon), Jo Mei (The World of Extreme Happiness, Manhattan Theater Club), Nafeesa Monroe (Disgraced, Pittsburgh Public; The Bold and the Beautiful, CBS), Andrea Morales (Bull, CBS), Austin Pendleton (Mother Courage, The Public Theater), Ivan Quintanilla (Eliot, A Soldiers Fugue, Alliance Theater), Rebecca White (The Exonerated, Culture Project) and Reggie White (Hundred Days, The Public Theater). Bernita Robinson stage manages.

"Howard Zinn's humanitarian voice illuminates the way when, sadly, so many candles of hope have been snuffed out," says Culture Project Artistic Director Allan Buchman. "As we gaze into the future, we see Zinn's words, written yesterday, but so appropriate for today. They drive us to search our better selves, for the strength to resist, and the belief that we can triumph over oppression. His voice is timeless his truth is permanent."

Both concert readings are held at the Saint Mary Church at 440 Grand St., 10002. Tickets are $25 and available at cpprologuetoprogress.eventbrite.com, or ?by phone at ?212-925-1806? weekdays from 11am-6pm.
