Everyday Inferno Theatre Company is thrilled to announce casting for After I Was Free, presented by Dixon Place.

In After I Was Free, Everyday Inferno presents in-progress excerpts from Caroline Angell's original musical adaptation of the biblical story of Susanna and the Elders, with music by Grace Oberhofer.

After I Was Free is directed by Anaïs Koivisto. Christopher Zander is the Musical Director, Katherine Sommer is the producer, and Frances Swanson is the Production Stage Manager. The cast is led by Joell Weil (Village Theatre) as Susanna, and features Dax Dupuy, Jarrad Biron Green (West Side Story, National Tour), Natalie Martzial, Melvinna Rose, Rita Suri, Daniel Scott Walton (Goodspeed Opera House, Commonwealth Shakespeare Co.), and Nicholas Yenson (Arena Stage, Signature Theatre).

Susanna said NO. Only God heard.

The beautiful Susanna is cornered by two elders of the town while bathing naked in her garden. They offer her an impossible choice: submit to their desires, or resist and face slander and public trial. Her decision, and the repercussions that follow, sets the stage for a powerful and unnervingly contemporary examination of slut-shaming, rape culture, and the exploitation of women's sexuality in popular media.

Everyday Inferno Theatre Company creates adventurous theatrical productions of new or rarely produced texts with a focus on telling women's stories in a unique, entertaining, and accessible manner. We embrace and exceed the limitations of low-budget theatre, exploring nontraditional spaces, stagecraft, and storytelling. We are committed to developing a diverse audience by producing work that is large in scope while keeping our production costs (and ticket prices) at a minimum. Through our work, we prove that stories focused on women can be universally enjoyable and relatable.
