THML Theatre Company continues its fall reading series with a presentation of God's Necklace by Morgan Trant Kinnally. The reading, directed by Ianne Fields Stewart, will take place on Monday, October 29th at 7:30pm at The Center at West Park.
Two Nuer women in South Sudan flee Juba after President Kiir's armed guard began killing Nuer civilians door-to-door in Juba, December 2013. In Kakuma Refugee camp they are chosen for resettlement in San Diego, California. Once they arrive, they struggle with culture shock, but also how to present their traditional Nuer female marriage to their American volunteer, Roberta, a chainsaw-wielding arborist from Alpine. But who you are, who you love, and what culture you claim as your own may tear them apart.
Featuring performances by Taylor Lynn Carter (Dirty Linen), Fatou Fall (Shut the Front Door), Najah Johnson (We The People), Nyla Sampson (Trojan Barbie), and Rosemarie Sciarrone (Branca de Neve).thm
