A cast recording of the new DisneyWorld musical Finding Nemo, based on the smash Disney/Pixar Animation Studios movie and featuring songs by Robert Lopez (Avenue Q) and Kristen Anderson-Lopez, is now available on iTunes.
Reportedly featuring New York singers (rather than the show's Orlando cast), the CD of original songs is available for $9.99.
Finding Nemo, which opened in late 2006, plays DisneyWorld's Animal Kingdom. "Immerse yourself in this singing, dancing, big fish story! Transformed into an enchanted undersea world, Disney's newly enclosed Theater in the Wild is home to the beloved characters of Finding Nemo. Be a part of this amazing on stage experience — the first time Disney has created a musical from a non-musical feature. With its live actors, larger-than-life puppets and original music and lyrics, this 30-minute performance is sure to delight your whole family!," state Disney notes.
Peter Brosius, artistic director of The Children's Theatre Company of Minneapolis, directs the musical.
During Finding Nemo – the Musical, Theater in the Wild is transformed into an undersea environment through lighting, sound, special effects and the theatrical puppetry of Michael Curry, who designed the character puppets seen in the Broadway version of Disney's The Lion King. Principal characters such as Marlin, Nemo and Dory are represented by live performers operating larger-than-life puppets. Peripheral characters are realized by a diverse array of puppetry styles, including rod, bunraku and shadow.
Released in 2003, Finding Nemo earned a domestic box office gross of $339,714,367. The film--directed by Andrew Stanton and Lee Unkrich and written by Stanton, Bob Peterson and David Reynolds, featured a voice cast comprised of Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres, William Dafoe, Brad Garrett, Allison Janney, Geoffrey Rush and more.
Finding Nemo–The Musical is performed several times daily. Admission to Theater in the Wild is included with regular Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park admission. Guest information is available by calling 407-824-4321 or by visiting www.disneyworld.com. Visit www.itunes.com to download iTunes.
