An industry reading of the new play Paulette will take place April 17, 2017 in midtown Manhattan.
Development begins of Mary Adkins's new play Paulette. Paulette tells the story of a North Carolina mother coming to terms with her adult daughter's life choices and a son-in-law in transition. It is a play about a twenty-first century southern family-what matters to them and what, in the end, doesn't.
The cast will be led by Cass Morgan with Jennifer Allen, Vivien Bailey, Allyce Beasley, Rebecca Eichenberger, Aleisha Force, Kathleen Hays, Margaret Loesser Robinson, and Jennifer Sanchez.
This is playwright Mary Adkins's first play since her 2009 debut The 49 Project (Best Overall Play & Outstanding Playwriting, New York Fringe Festival), which The New York Times described as "slickly cinematic." As a novelist, Adkins is represented by Claire Anderson-Wheeler at Regal Literary. Her writing has appeared in the New York Times, Slate, The Atlantic, and more.
Jeremy Landon Hays, May Two Sticks Productions, is producing.
