In today's Billboard.com, country music star Carrie Underwood spoke about her upcoming starring role in NBC's live broadcast of THE SOUND OF MUSIC.
The 6-time Grammy Award winner shared that she is definitely on edge about the upcoming live event, comparing it to "going to a Broadway show, but you're in your living room."
Underwood will portray iconic governess Maria opposite "True Blood" star Stephen Moyer as the dashing Captain von Trapp. The NBC musical will also feature Broadway vets Audra McDonald as Mother Abbess, Laura Benanti as Elsa and Christian Borle as Max.
The 30-year-old showed up in the Big Apple three weeks prior to the start of rehearsals, just to fit in some extra preparations. "I wanted to be here and have all my lines memorized and everything and be ready for it. It's been really wonderful," Underwood said. "Audra and Laura are incredible. Stephen's great. It's nice to be surrounded by that much talent."What causes Underwood the most jitters is doing something she's never done before. However she realizes, "None of us have. This is a live show on TV. So this is definitely a challenge for all of us."
Underwood will once again host this year's Country Music Association Awards. She also had the distinct honor of Being asked to record the theme song for Sunday Night Football which can be heard every weekend before the start of the game.
