Carrie Manolakos, Justin Matthew Sargent and More Set for BROADWAY ROX in Havana This Month

Robert Nederlander, Jr. and Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment have announced that their production of BROADWAY ROX will open the Havana International Theatre Festival in Cuba. The production will perform on October 23, 24, and 25 at the Teatro Mella.

BROADWAY ROX features five Broadway stars: Dustin Brayley (MISS SAIGON), Carrie Manolakos (DISNEY'S TARZAN, TOXIC AVENGER, DRACULA), Jason Wooten (HAIR, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, ROCKY HORROR), Justin Matthew Sargent (SPIDERMAN - TURN OFF THE DARK, BONNIE & CLYDE, ROCK OF AGES), American Idol's Ashley Loren (JEKYLL AND HYDE) and International singer Chloe Lowrey.

BROADWAY ROX is a creative collaboration conceived by Jason Howland, Broadway star and Trans-Siberian Orchestra Lead Singer Rob Evan, Tony Nominated Producer Rich Affannato and Broadway General Manager, Thom Schilling. Rob Evan and Rich Affanato directed the original production.

BROADWAY ROX is a live concert event that celebrates the rock and pop hits of Broadway, including Wicked, Jersey Boys, Rent, The Who's Tommy, Mamma Mia, Smokey Joe's Café, Hair, Rock of Ages, Jesus Christ Superstar and many more! BROADWAY ROX will feature a five-piece rock band unique musical arrangements created by Grammy winner, Broadway composer and musical director, Jason Howland (BEAUTIFUL: THE CAROLE KING MUSICAL,LITTLE WOMEN, JEKYLL & HYDE, FLASH DANCE). Additional arrangements by Charles Czarnecki.

BROADWAY ROX will be Nederlander's third presentation in Cuba. In December 2014, Nederlander produced and presented RENT in Havana, the first Broadway show to be performed in Cuba in over 50 years. RENT, which was produced in Spanish with an all Cuban cast, opened on December 24, 2014, one week after the historic announcement of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations between the US and Cuba, and ran for a sold out run of three months in Havana's Bertolt Brecht Theatre. In 2011, Nederlander brought Broadway Ambassadors to the 14th Havana Theatre Festival.

Robert Nederlander, Jr. (Producer) - Mr. Nederlander is a third generation member of the Nederlander entertainment family, one of the great dynasties of the American theatre. He is the founder and President of Nederlander Worldwide Entertainment, which manages theatres and presents Broadway productions in emerging international markets, and produces international productions for Broadway and elsewhere around the world. Nederlander is committed to cultural exchange between the Broadway and Cuban artistic communities. In December 2014, Mr. Nederlander, in partnership with the Cuban National Council of Performing Arts, produced RENT in Havana, the first Broadway musical produced and presented in the nation of Cuba in over 50 years. This Cuban version of RENT is scheduled to perform in New York City and tour cities throughout Latin America. In November 2011, Mr. Nederlander presented Broadway Ambassadors in Havana as part of the 14th Annual Havana Theatre Festival. Mr. Nederlander is one of the international pioneers in the emerging Chinese Cultural Industry, having created the first foreign joint venture in 2005 to operate in China's live performance industry, presented numerous Broadway shows across 18 cities in China, was the first to present a Chinese show, Soul of Shaolin, on Broadway in New York City, and currently manages theatres in Shanghai and Jiangsu Province. In 2013, Nederlander opened the Zorlu Center in Istanbul, Turkey, the largest performing arts center in Europe. Other recent international initiatives include a touring circuit in Europe and the Middle East, and facility operations in Taiwan.
