Carradine, D'Arcy James & Kind Announced for 'Scoundrels'

Keith Carradine and Brian D'Arcy James have been officially announced as Broadway's next Dirty Rotten Scoundrels. On July 20th, they will succeed Jonathan Pryce and Norbert Leo Butz, who depart on July 16th, as rival con artists Lawrence Jameson and Freddy Benson.

In addition, Richard Kind will succeed Gregory Jbara, who is leaving on July 23rd, as gendarme Andre. He will step into the role on August 3rd.. Sherie Rene Scott will return in the role of self-proclaimed soap heiress Christine Colgate on June 20th. Scott (Aida, The Last Five Years) received a Tony nomination for creating the role, which is currently filled by Rachel York (Dessa Rose, Victor/Victoria).

Carradine, who will be making his first Broadway appearance in 15 years, last appeared on Broadway in the title role of The Will Rogers Follies (for which he received Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations). His other Broadway credits include Foxfire (opposite Hume Cronyn and Jessica Tandy) and Hair. Mr. Carradine recently appeared in the American Premiere of David Hare's Stuff Happens, at the Mark Taper Forum, as President George W. Bush. His many film credits include Pretty Baby, Welcome to L.A., The Moderns, McCabe and Mrs. Miller, M*A*S*H*, Thieves Like Us and Nashville, for which he received the Academy Award for Best Original Song ("I'm Easy"). He most recently starred in the premiere season of HBO's acclaimed "Deadwood."

Brian d'Arcy James is currently earning raves for his performance in The Lieutenant of Inishmore. His other Broadway credits include Sweet Smell of Success (Tony Award nomination), Titanic, Carousel and Blood Brothers. For his solo show, The Good Thief, he received a Drama Desk nomination. He also received a Drama Desk nomination for his performance in the musical, The Wild Party, at Manhattan Theatre Club.

Richard Kind's latest turn on Broadway was as 'Max Bialystock' in The Producers. Other theatre credits include The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Bounce, Rough Crossing, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, All in the Timing and Things You Shouldn't Say Past Midnight. Television audiences will recognize him from "Spin City," "Mad About You," "Carol Burnett & Company," "Blue Skies," "A Whole New Ballgame," "The Commish," "Unsub" and many guest appearances including, most recently, "Scrubs," "Still Standing," "Just Shoot Me" and "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels
, which follows the hijinx of two crooks on the French Riviera, won the 2005 Drama League Award as Best Musical, and was nominated for 11 Tony Awards. Butz won a Tony for his performance. The show features a book by Jeffrey Lane and music and lyrics by David Yazbek (The Full Monty). The production is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien and choreographed by Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell. The musical is based on the 1988 MGM film.

The original cast recording is available on Ghostlight Records. The national tour--for which casting has yet to be announced--will kick off in Seattle in August.
