The Fort Greene Festival is a major, not-for profit, community service event. The event benefits scholarships, and helps community service. All of the talent are donating their time. Fort Greene Fest's demographics reflect a stronghold for some of NYC's political, business, civic, fashion, media, entertainment and sports leaders and stars. During such a still-struggling economy, the Festival will be quite a treat and a great opportunity to enjoin families, friends, co-workers, businesses and simply people.

Caron Wheeler will be a special guest performer. Common will perform, as will others. Toure, Malik Yoba and Rosie Perez will be the hosts. The all-day festival will have an urban-Woodstock feel. There will be featured, special and surprise guest entertainment, in addition to vendors, community service organizations, media, politicians and a host of folks from across the globe. The Festival is free, however, event attendees are being asked to donate $5 to support the Ajile L. Turner Scholarship Fund www.altscholarshipfund.org in memoriam of Ajile Turner, a first cousin of Common, who passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident in September 2009. The Festival will run from 12 noon to 10 p.m.
