Please note the following updates to Carnegie Hall's 2013-2014 schedule, reflecting major updates made since the hall announced the concert season last January.

THE PHILADELPHIA ORCHESTRA
Wednesday, October 2 at 7:00 p.m.

PROGRAM UPDATE:
Ravel's Tzigane replaces Tchaikovsky's Valse-scherzo in C Major, Op. 34 for this program by The Philadelphia Orchestra which opens Carnegie Hall's 2013-2014 season.

THE SILK ROAD ENSEMBLE with Yo-Yo Ma

PROGRAM ADDITION:
Program includes the New York premieres of music by John Zorn, Vijay Iyer, and David Bruce, as well as works by Angel Lam, Giovanni Sollima, and Jia Daqun.

THE LONE BELLOW

Brooklyn-based trio The Lone Bellow kicks off the 2013-2014 Live at Zankel concerts presented by Carnegie Hall in partnership with WFUV.

PROGRAM UPDATE:
Selected songs by Purcell have been added to the program by tenor Ian Bostridge, countertenor Iestyn Davies, baritone Joshua Hopkins, and pianist Julius Drake. The recital, part of Carnegie Hall's season-long celebration of Benjamin Britten's centenary, features Britten's complete Canticles.

PROGRAM AND ARTIST UPDATE:
Bassonist Martin Kuuskmann joins the American Composers Orchestra conducted by Robert Spano and is featured in Christopher Theofanidis's Bassoon Concerto, which replaces the earlier announced work, Muse. Julia Wolfe's Fuel featuring filmmaker Bill Morrison has also been added to the program.

Cast additions to the concert performance of Britten's Peter Grimes by the St. Louis Symphony and Chorus and Music Director David Robertson include bass-baritone Alan Held as Captain Balstrode, mezzo-soprano Ann Murrayin the role of Auntie, baritone Patrick Carfizzi as Swallow, mezzo-soprano Nancy Maultsby as Mrs. Sedley, bassDavid Pittsinger as Hobson, tenor Thomas Cooley as Robert Boles, baritone Liam Bonner as Ned Keene, and tenorKeith Boyer as Horace Adams. The performance, which takes place on Britten's 100th birthday, features tenorAnthony Dean Griffey as Grimes and soprano Susanna Phillips as Ellen Orford.

ARTIST ADDITIONS:
Speaker John Bridcut joins keynote speaker Paul Kildea in this afternoon exploration of Britten's life and work. The event includes a song recital organized by pianist Malcolm Martineau, with performances by sopranos Joélle Harveyand Emalie Savoy, tenor Paul Appleby, and baritone John Brancy.

Samuel Ramey and Frederica von Stade host this celebration of Marilyn Horne's 80th birthday, with performances by vocalist Barbara Cook, soprano Renée Fleming, soprano Brenda Rae, mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton, mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard, countertenor David Daniels, tenor Piotr Beczala, baritone Lester Lynch, and pianistsMartin Katz and Warren Jones. The concert is the culmination of Ms. Horne's weeklong series of master classes and recitals entitled The Song Continues.

Harpist Sivan Magen and the Enso String Quartet join mandolin player Avi Avital for his recital. The New York premiere of David Bruce's Cymbeline for Mandolin and String Quartet replaces Bruce's One Thousand Nights and Counting. The remainder of the program is unchanged.
