Casting has been announced for the world premiere production of Saving Aimee, which will be presented at Arlington, VA's Signature Theatre from April 10th through May 13th in the Max.

The musical will star Tony-nominee Carolee Carmello (Lestat, Parade) in the title role, with Florence Lacey (Evita, Hello, Dolly!) as Mrs. Kennedy, E. Faye Butler (Dinah Was) as Emma Jo, and Ed Dixon (The Scarlet Pimpernel) as Brother Bob and Mr. Kennedy.

Doug Bowles, Larry Hylton, James Gardiner, Diego Prieto, Harry A. Winter, Ellen Marsh, Meghan Touey, and Tammy Roberts will comprise the ensemble.

Saving Aimee features book and lyrics by Kathie Lee Gifford ("Live with Regis and Kathie Lee," Under the Bridge), as well as music by David Pomeranz and David Friedman.  Eric Schaeffer (Putting It Together) will direct.  Schaeffer previously directed Carmello in a workshop of Saving Aimee in White Plains, NY.

"Based on the life of Aimee Semple McPherson, Saving Aimee is the story of one woman's life from her humble upbringing in a 'Salvation Army' family to her ascension as the charismatic founder of the Four Square Gospel Church.  She changed the face of the pulpit, but was she a true woman of God or just one hell of a woman?," according to Signature notes.
