Actress Carey Anderson, who recently appeared on Broadway in MAMMA MIA, joins the cast of AVENUE Q as the Tony Award-winning musical's beloved puppet characters Kate Monster and Lucy, beginning Tuesday, July 8 at 8PM at the Golden Theatre (252 West 45th Street).
As Kate (a kindergarten school teaching assistant) and Lucy (an avowed tramp and home-wrecker), Ms. Anderson will perform in the show's signature numbers: "It Sucks to Be Me," "Everyone's a Little Bit Racist," "The Internet Is for Porn," "Special," The More You Ruv Someone," and others.
Carey Anderson steps into AVENUE Q after having played Sophie in MAMMA MIA on Broadway and on tour. Her other New York credits include the Musicals Tonight! productions of THE GIRLFRIEND and MY FAVORITE YEAR, and ABBEY VICTORIA at Lark Theatre.
AVENUE Q is the winner of 3 Tony Awards in 2004, including Best Musical. The hilarious tale about 20-somethings fresh out of college who move to New York City with big dreams and tiny bank accounts, the musical recently celebrated its 2,000th performance -- becoming the 25th longest-running show in Broadway history (and the 7th longest-running musical of those currently playing).
