Caren Lyn Manuel has joined the cast of the new Broadway musical High Fidelity.
She will play Sarah, one of the the ex-girlfriends of protagonist Rob (Will Chase). Justin Brill, who played the part during the musical's Boston engagement, continues in other roles in the show on Broadway.
Manuel, most recently seen in The Times They Are A-Changin', has also appeared on Broadway in Brooklyn and Rent, as well as in tours of Fame and Les Miserables and in Off-Broadway's Once Around the Sun.
The show begins previews November 20 prior to a December 7 opening on Broadway at the Imperial Theatre (249 West 45th Street).
A first-time collaboration between three talented young writers -- composer Tom Kitt, lyricist Amanda Green, and book-writer David Lindsay-Abaire, the Tony-nominated playwright -- High Fidelity is a new musical comedy based on the best-selling novel by Nick Hornby.
The show "tells the story of Rob, a record store owner who knows almost everything there is to know about pop music, but almost nothing about how to hold on to a girl. Rob's love life, already a broken record of heartache, falls off the charts completely when he gets dumped by Laura….but that just sets him up for one of the top 5 romantic comebacks ever," state notes.
High Fidelity stars Chase (Lennon, Rent and Aida) as Rob and Jenn Colella (Urban Cowboy) as Laura, as well as Rachel Stern (Liz), Christian Anderson (Dick), Jay Klaitz (Barry), Jeb Brown (Ian), Emily Swallow (Marie/Charlie), Jon Patrick Walker (Johnny the Drunk), Kirsten Wyatt (Anna/Alison), ensemble members Brill, Andrew C. Call, Matt Caplan and Anne Warren, and swings Paul Castree, George Merrick, Tom Plotkin, Rachel Stern and J.B. Wing.
High Fidelity is choreographed by Christopher Gattelli (Altar Boyz, Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me), with set design by Anna Louizos (Avenue Q), costume design by Theresa Squire (The Lieutenant of Inishmore), lighting design by Tony-winner Ken Billington (Chicago) and sound design by Acme Sound Partners (Avenue Q).
