If chosen, children will have the chance to participate in a 5-day program in New York City that culminates in becoming a part of a thrilling American tradition, the 82nd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade®! Performers will have a chance to get to know children from all over the U.S.A. and from other nations. This program is comprised of four partial days of small group rehearsals and workshops, held in a New York City dance studio. During this "camp", they will learn the song and movement routine from Broadway professionals which will become the closing number of the parade, just before the arrival of Santa Claus. They will also attend performing arts workshops conducted by Broadway performers, and participate in a technical NBC blocking rehearsal in Herald Square. Some of them may have an opportunity to be interviewed by the media, to talk about their experience preparing for the parade. Oftentimes, a performer's local hometown newspaper may want to write about their experience in the parade. Then, on Thanksgiving morning, they will walk the entire parade route, 2.5 miles, among the millions of people watching from the sidelines, and perform the finale at the end of the parade. Camp Broadway® performers get to experience the parade from the inside out.
