Camp Broadway, Broadway's Original Summer Camp, has announced dates for its 2008 Summer Camp programs. The leader in performing arts training for theatre-loving kids, Camp Broadway provides programs for young talents, ages 6 through 18.

Two camps will be held in New York City during the summer of 2008. The first session will take place from July 14 - 18. The second session will be held from August 4 - 8. All programs take place during a 5-day period with instruction by experienced Broadway artists and Broadway trained faculty. Each program includes a day in Times Square where all participants will attend a Broadway show, meet the stage crew to experience what goes on "behind-the-scenes" as well as meet the cast. This year, the new Broadway smash, In The Heights is the production featured during both camp sessions.

Camp Broadway is designed for budding artists ages 9 - 11. Instruction, by experienced Broadway trained faculty, includes classes in ensemble singing, dance and movement, voice and acting. Master classes are taught by Broadway actors with the 5-day session ending with an on-stage finale presented by all students for their families.

CB2 is tailored for performers ages 12 - 14. Activities include those featured in the Camp Broadway program with the addition of Master Classes with Broadway artists in pop vocal technique and hip hop dance.

Camp Broadway The Next Step is for the emerging stars, ages 15 - 17. The focus of this program is on enhancing the individual talents of teenaged performers through one-on-one coaching in scene study, vocal technique, movement and overall presentation. Class size is kept to a minimum in order to allow for individualized instruction between teacher and young artist. Applicants for Next Step are required to have previously participated in a Camp Broadway program or have special permission from Camp Broadway via a resume, headshot and recommendation from a performing arts teacher.

Camp Broadway was founded in 1996 as a performing arts program that has developed into one of the nation's preeminent theatre arts education and audience development organizations. Recipient of the 2002 Standing Ovation Award from the Educational Theatre Association, Camp Broadway is dedicated to helping students and families experience theatre in creative and meaningful ways. Over 100,000 students have experienced the programs of Camp Broadway. These programs have served to establish a direct relationship between professional Broadway artists and young audiences thereby allowing a whole new generation to experience the magic and artistry of Broadway.
