Cabaret star Joanne Beretta will return to NYC on February 3rd for her first solo cabaret engagement in 25 years. Kathleen Chalfant (Wit, Angels in America) will present Beretta for three Friday nights in February at Danny's Skylight Room, 346 West 46th Street (on Theatre Row) - Fridays, February 3rd, 10th and 17th at 7 PM.

Chalfant said "I'm delighted to re-introduce Joanne to music lovers in New York City. She is one of the most remarkable singers and story-tellers I've ever heard."

Beretta began singing professionally in San Francisco in the 1950s, earning a devoted following with appearances at the Fallen Angel (with Johnny Mathis), the Hungry i, the Purple Onion and other clubs. Moving to NYC, she appeared in regional theatre and played 'The Governor' in Tommy Tune's OBIE Award-winning off-Broadway production The Club.  She also played extended engagements at Upstairs at the Duplex, The Showplace, Bon Soir, Downstairs at the Upstairs, Reno Sweeney's and Brothers & Sisters as well as at Town Hall and Carnegie Hall. In 1978 she decided she didn't want to sing in public anymore. During her singing career in the 50's, 60's and 70s, Beretta had a parallel career as an award-winning designer and floral decorator working with most of the top magazines and department stores including Tiffanys, Lord & Taylor and Bloomingdales.

"A recent appearance at a benefit for the Abingdon Theatre Company and a guest appearance with her old friend and collaborator John Wallowitch last summer at Danny's reminded Joanne once again why she loved to sing," according to press notes. "And now, after a 25 year break, Joanne Beretta's long-awaited return...features songs by such diverse writers as Joni Mitchell, Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan. She will be accompanied by Franklin Underwood on piano."

The cover is $15 with a $12 minimum. For reservations, call (212) 265-8130.
