Psittacus Productions, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit theater and multimedia company, announced today that the critically acclaimed "CYCLOPS: A ROCK OPERA," is extending due to popular demand. The final performance at NYMF will be Sunday October 9th at 11pm, at the 47th Street Theatre in midtown Manhattan. Featuring an original score of 24 genre-bending songs written by Jayson Landon Marcus and Benjamin Sherman, "CYCLOPS" is a fast-paced, rock n' roll musical re-imagining of the only surviving Greek Satyr Play, the story of Odysseus' encounter with the monstrous Cyclops, and his adventures with the loud and crude rock band The Satyrs.
"I'm thrilled that CYCLOPS has found such an energetic, and loyal audience," Managing Director Chas LiBretto said. "Coming in from out of town and then being able to pack a 190 seat Off-Broadway house night after night gives me great hope for this show's future.
Comprised of Executive Director Louis Butelli and Director-at-Large Robert Richmond, along with LiBretto, Psittacus Productions exists to create innovative theater art to share with its community, investigating the ways in which modern life and new media affect the act of storytelling.
Tickets are $25 and are now on-sale at www.nymf.org/cyclops.
