CRACKED! is presented as part of Broadway Bound Theatre Festival 2018 (Festival Director, Lenore Skomal). Come out and play, New York! Affordable theatre is alive, well and living in NYC's eclectic and electric East Village. Broadway Bound takes a fresh approach to the theatre festival model as it mentors the continent's brightest playwrights on successful self-production.

Z Productions announced complete casting today for CRACKED beginning Saturday, August 18 at the Theater at the 14th Street Y, 344 E. 14th Street. Written by Rosemary Zibart and directed by Dana Savage, CRACKED will run through Wednesday, August 22.

The cast of CRACKED features Gloria Bess (Sara), Barbara Goldman* (Esther), Jerry Goralnick (Hyram), Sam Khazai (Benjamin), Cristina Paroval (Druca), Doug Stone* (Aaron), and Tamar Yoffe (Nina).

Have you ever heard a friend's story and thought, "That would make a fantastic play!" Well, that's how CRACKED was written by author and playwright, Rosemary Zibart, when a friend conveyed the story of her father's sudden death, returning home to Israel to sit shiva and the emotional and financial chaos that ensued.

"I have treated Jewish themes and themes of dislocation in my work," says Zibart. "But usually they're in a historical context like 19th century Europe or WWII. CRACKED however is a very contemporary play about how a young Israeli-American woman must come to terms with the myths of country and family that hinder her.

Author, playwright and former journalist, Ms. Zibart, has had plays presented in New York, Seattle, Denver, London and Albuquerque. She was one of two winners of the Icicle Creek Theater Festival, outside Seattle, for her play The Jewel in the Manuscript. Her play City Mice was featured at this year's William Inge Play Festival. In addition she writes books for young people including True Brit and Forced Journey about children displaced by WWII. Previously she wrote for PARADE, Time Magazine and the Christian Science Monitor.

DANA SAVAGE (Director) is a East Village-based theater maker and director. Upcoming projects include UNTITLED (Ars Nova / Makers Lab), CRACKED (14th St. Y Theater), and excluded diary entry (TBD).
