CPCT is ecited to present STUART LITTLE, based on the book by E.B. White, adapted for Stage by Joseph Robinette, with music by RONNA FRANK, lyrics by Joseph Robinette and RONNA FRANK. Produced by special arrangement with Dramatic Publishing.

Audition Requirements:
Auditions are open. Select ONE day from the schedule to audition. Be prepared to stay for the entire allotted time. Each person will sing by themselves, then dance and read from the script in groups. Singing: Please prepare a one minute song, preferably from Musical Theatre. Bring either a CD (with music only, no vocals) or sheet music in the proper key. An accompanist will be provided. Dancing: Bring comfortable clothes and shoes that you can dance in (no sandals or flip flops or bare feet for dancing!).
Acting: We will have cold readings from the script. If you are not reading yet, please memorize a story or poem to say out loud. It should last 1 minute or less. Administrative: Please be prepared to write down all of your conflicts with the rehearsal schedule at the auditions. We will also want to know which part(s) you are interested in, if there are any parts you will not accept, and if you would take a part as an ensemble member. Please be honest. No appointment necessary. There is NO PAY.

PLOT SUMMARY:
Come join Conejo Players in telling the timeless story of a little mouse with big adventures. Stuart - a very tiny mouse - is born into a very regular-sized human family. He has all sorts of adventures as he deals with the family cat, neighborhood cats and dogs, a hurt bird, the Central Park bully and more. The show features songs such as "Feed Him Up", "Nighttime in New York", and "Sa's'parilla". Visit www.conejoplayers.org for more details.

STUART LITTLE - Character Breakdown
Age Range - We will generally be casting ages 8 - Adult. We may be casting a very few parts for children from ages 6-8. We will not be casting children under the age of 6. For breakdown of roles, please visit www.conejoplayers.org.

All roles require the ability to sing and move well.

Stuart Little - (M) Age range 8-12. Stuart should generally be small in stature and be a very strong actor able to carry a show. Stuart is a very proper, kind of preppy mouse. He is very kind and grown up for his age.

Narrator - (M or F) Age range is flexible (not adult). There is flexibility in how the actor plays the narrator. However, the actor should be very engaging and strong. Must have lots of energy.

Mr Little - (M) Age range - Adult. Mr. Little is Stuart's father and is sort of plain, and a little bit proper. (Stuart gets that from his father). May double as another character.

Mrs. Little - (F) Age range - Adult. Mrs. Little is Stuart's mother. She is kind and the quintessential doting mother. May double as another character.

George - (M) Age range is flexible (not adult), but must play older than Stuart. Stuart's brother.

Snowbell - (M or F) - Age range is flexible (not adult). Snowbell is the family cat. S/he is very sly and not really very nice. S/he tricks the family into thinking Stuart is dead.

Margolo - (F) - Age range is flexible (not adult). Margalo is a bird who is very wise and direct (think business -like) and turns out to be Stuart's best friend.

Malty - (M) - Age range is flexible (not adult). Malty is one of the neighborhood cats. Think tough-guy. Role will double as ensemble characters.

Babette - (F) - Age range is flexible (not adult). Babette is one of the neighborhood cats. She speaks (sings) with a French accent. Think French maid. Role will double as ensemble characters.


Tige - (M) - Age range is flexible (not adult). Tige is one of the neighborhood cats. He reads poetry. Role will double as ensemble characters.

Angie - (F) - Age range is flexible (not adult). Angie is one of the neighborhood cats. She is sly and cunning and conspires to eat Margalo! Will double as other characters.

Harriet Ames (F) - Age range 8-12 must be same general size and age as Stuart. Harriet is VERY girly! Think pink, curls and lacey socks. She is very cutesie. Role will double as ensemble characters.

Adult Ensemble (M) - Will cast 2-3 adult males to play several adult roles which may include doctor, bus driver, trash collector, dentist, store keeper, telephone repair, referee, superintendent neighbors.

Adult Ensemble (F) - Will cast 1 adult female to play several adult roles which may include woman with newspaper, reporter, dental assistant, neighbors.

Children's ensemble - various ages to play various roles including Leroy the bully, Pigeon, river creatures, neighbors, students, dog. (River creatures will be frog, dragonfly, earthworms, otter, bumble bee, turtle, and butterfly)
