Littman Gallery's Contact Exhibition Opens March 1 and goes from 5-8 p.m.

The desire to know if we are alone in the universe is not limited to UFO abductees or sci-fi enthusiasts; it is central to our contemporary condition and made evident through our culture and its products. We battle aliens on TV while we scan the skies for proof of their existence. Contact presents this condition by framing new and venerable works from Chase Biado, Jamie Edwards, Daniel J Glendening, Joshua Lee Vineyard, and Xhurch Collective that examine and explicate alien phenomena ranging from screen memories to sexual encounters within a historical narrative of documents and ephemeral objects from The Portland Alien Museum collection.

Press notes comment, "Let us acknowledge the pervasive nature of phenomenological inspiration that began with the first sightings of flying saucers during the mid twentieth century and continues to necessitate artistic responses today. In art and life people are almost always talking about aliens. Contact was born of this zeitgeist."
