Bridget Barkan is a native New Yorker who's been working since birth, literally. From child actress in commercials and on Sesame Street, to appearing in films like HBO's "Everyday People," co-starring with Maggie Gyllenhaal in "Sherrybaby," in Brian De Palma's controversial film "Redacted," most recently alongside Phillip Seymour Hoffman in "God's Pocket," a guest role on Steven Soderbergh's show The Knick, and a recurring role as the one legged hooker on Law & Order: SVU. On the stage Bridget has appeared in various Manhattan Theatre Club productions, she was in the original production of "Dog Sees God", and a workshop of "Spring Awakening."

As a singer Bridget has toured the world with pop/glam band the Scissor Sisters. She has recorded with legendary house DJ and producer Todd Terry and released her own album "Dear Stranger."

The singing-activists return to Joe's after last year's performances in Chase Bank lobbies, and New York jails and courts. In 2013, we were inspired by the extinction and resurrection of the Golden Toad. This year, the Honey Bee is the hero. The presence of the pesticides of "Big Ag" and the struggle by bees to survive, is inspiration for new songs, songs with lots of Bee-atitude, hard-working and sticky sweet.

A Better Holiday: A Concert to Benefit the It Gets Better Project, will celebrate the holiday season with songs of hope, will be held at Joe's Pub Dec. 7 at 7 PM. Proceeds from the performance will benefit the It Gets Better Project, an organization created by Dan Savage and Terry Miller in September 2010 in response to the number of LGBT youth who took their lives after being bullied in school.

The Meeting* hosted by Justin Sayre, the acclaimed comedy/variety show, continues its landmark 6th season at Joe's. The Meeting* has been called "delicious and delightfully droll" by The New York Post, and "hilarious and sardonic" by The Village Voice. A recent story for Slate.com called the evening "so deliciously icy that it left me shivering with fear and delight." The Fall 2014 season included a tribute to Broadway and Hollywood star Julie Andrews (October 19) and one to Warhol Superstar Candy Darling (November 16). Sayre hosts the 6th annual Holiday Spectacular with many special guests to be announced. Tracy Stark serves as the show's Music Director.

Dan Penn comes to Joe's for a rare, one-night-only performance. The legendary American songwriter/producer was an integral part of both the Muscle Shoals and Memphis music scenes in their heyday. His critically acclaimed, soulful voice, and songs, such as "I'm Your Puppet" (James and Bobby Purify), "Dark End of The Street" (James Carr), "Cry Like A Baby" (The Box Tops), "Do Right Woman" (Aretha Franklin), "It Tears Me Up" (Percy Sledge), "You Left The Water Running"(Otis Redding) "A Woman Left Lonely" (Janis Joplin), and Solomon Burke's "Don't Give Up On Me", among others, helped to shape the development of Southern Soul and Pop music.
