To celebrate the beginning of previews for the eagerly anticipated Clybourne Park at the Walter Kerr Theatre, producer Jordan Roth has announced a contest to win tickets to Opening Night with Instagram. Seizing on one of the play's themes – how we each see the essential touchstones of our communities – the production is asking participants to capture the "Heart of a Neighborhood" via Instagram. Snap a photo and choose a filter to transform the look and feel of the shot.
Contestants of the "Heart of a Neighborhood" challenge are asked to take a photo that captures something unique about their own community or a neighborhood of their past, using Instagram, and write a caption that includes the location and the tags #ClybournePark #HeartOfNeighborhood #Instagram. One lucky winner will be selected at random to receive a VIP package that includes two tickets toClybourne Park's Opening Night performance and party on Thursday, April 19, and a copy of the winning Instagram photo signed by the cast. The deadline is 11:59pm on April 9th (winner will be notified at www.twitter.com/ClybournePark within 24 hours).
Winner of the 2011 Pulitzer Prize and London's Olivier Award for Best Play, Clybourne Park is the wickedly funny and fiercely provocative new play about race, real estate and the volatile values of each. Clybourne Park explodes in two outrageous acts set 50 years apart. Act One takes place in 1959, as nervous community leaders anxiously try to stop the sale of a home to a black family. Act Two is set in the same house in the present day, as the now predominantly African-American neighborhood battles to hold its ground in the face of gentrification.
Bruce Norris's acclaimed play under the direction of Pam MacKinnon, received its world premiere at Playwrights Horizons in 2010 and just completed a critically acclaimed pre-Broadway engagement at Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum in Los Angeles. The original cast has moved to the Walter Kerr Theatre including Crystal A. Dickinson, Brendan Griffin, Damon Gupton, Christina Kirk, Annie Parisse, Jeremy Shamos and Frank Wood. The design team features Daniel Ostling (sets), Ilona Somogyi(costumes), Allen Lee Hughes (lights), and John Gromada (sound).
