Good Works Productions announces the cast and director for a staged reading of CHOSEN CHILD, part of Emerging Artist Theater's New Works Series. Mothers and memories combine to change the fate of a schizophrenic man at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, who's waiting for a sister he hardly knows, to fulfill an agreement that was never made. This drama with comedy is about adoption, obligation, and the ties that may, or may not bind.

Written by award-winning playwright Monica Bauer (My Occasion of Sin, Urban Stages Emerging Playwright Award: Anne Frank in the Gaza Strip, Best Comedy at 2017 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity), it will be directed by Jessica O'Hara-Baker (most recently AD to Kate Whoriskey on Greg Pierce's Cardinal at Second Stage; director of new works at The Flea, NY Fringe, Fresh Ground Pepper, LAByrinth, T. Schreiber, The Shelter, and Nylon Fusion). Chosen Child can be seen in a one night only special event on March 17th at 7pm at the Tada Theater, 15 W. 28th.

Chosen Child received a workshop production in 2016 as part of Boston Playwright Theater's season, and was previously seen as a reading off-off Broadway at Stage Left Studio directed by Austin Pendleton. The revised script won the Bridge Initiative for Women in Theater's Bechdel Test Fest in 2017, and received a reading at Tempe (Arizona) Center for the Arts.

Actors include veterans of regional, Off Broadway, and off-off Broadway productions, including Dara O'Brien (New York premiere of Gidion's Knot by Johnna Adams, directed by Austin Pendleton at 59E59 Theatres), Harriett Trangucci (a company member of Dreamcatcher Repertory Theatre in Summit, NJ), Martha Wollner (member of Labyrith Theater Company, she has performed at The Public, Cherry Lane Theater, and 59E59 among others), and John Fico (a former Bat at the Flea; winner, 2017 Planet Connections Theatre Festivity award for Outstanding Featured Actor in a Comedy for his role in Monica Bauer's Anne Frank in the Gaza Strip; many performances including United Solo, Edinburgh Fringe, and London's Theatre Etectera engagements in Bauer's tour de force play for one actor, Made for Each Other). Other members of the cast include Molly Collier, Morgan McGuire, and Kailah S. King.
